Flight Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed flight test plans including objectives, methodologies, and safety protocols
• Collaborate with design, systems, and software engineers to define test requirements
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure aviation compliance
• Conduct pre-flight inspections and system checks for UAV readiness
• Lead or participate in flight test execution and remote UAV piloting
• Monitor and analyze flight data in real-time to achieve test objectives
• Troubleshoot testing issues and implement corrective actions
• Collect and interpret flight data to assess UAV system performance
• Prepare comprehensive test reports and present findings to stakeholders
• Implement safety protocols and conduct risk assessments
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
• 7-10 years of experience in aerospace engineering
• At least 5 years in UAV flight testing or a related field
• Proven experience planning and conducting flight tests for unmanned systems
• Experience with data acquisition systems, telemetry, and flight control systems
• Proficiency in flight test software and simulation tools
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and UAV airworthiness standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Part 107 pilot certification
