Flight Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead mission control room operations as a Test Conductor during experimental flight tests of carrier aircraft and hypersonic vehicle testbeds
• Develop and document test plans, mission procedures, and schedules for ground and flight testing
• Coordinate range, airspace, and support resources to ensure safe and effective mission execution
• Lead flight readiness reviews and manage test-specific vehicle limitations
• Collaborate with vehicle engineering teams to define test requirements and identify system safety concerns
• Mentor junior personnel in flight test planning and execution

Requirements

• Technical aerospace experience with training in a technical discipline
• Proven experience leading flight test programs
• Experience with experimental aircraft, launch vehicles, or spacecraft
• Proficiency with engineering and test data analysis tools such as IADS and MATLAB
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work irregular hours and travel periodically

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar technical field
• Graduate of a recognized test pilot school long course
• Experience as a Test Conductor for a developmental test program
• Experience with government flight test organizations, ranges, and procedures
• Experience operating in a classified work environment
