Fleet Operations Specialist

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of operators during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
• Oversee vehicle fleet maintenance, inspection, and general health to ensure maximum uptime
• Manage end-to-end logistics including route planning, long-distance testing, and equipment transport
• Develop daily run plans aligned to data collection quotas and report disengagement root causes to engineering
• Manage shift-level people responsibilities including attendance, policy adherence, and coaching
• Act as the primary escalation point for vehicle faults, on-road incidents, or workflow blockers
• Ensure all operations comply with Japanese road laws and internal safety standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement of operational workflows and post-shift reviews

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in operations, field team leadership, or vehicle/fleet coordination
• Proven track record in managing vehicle maintenance, driver shifts, or complex logistical scheduling
• Experience guiding frontline teams in a dynamic, tech-driven environment
• Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution
• Safety-first mindset with experience in high-pressure environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, automotive testing, or robotics systems
• Familiarity with Fleet Management Systems (e.g., Fleetio), Jira, Slack, Confluence, and Google Workspace
• Knowledge of basic telemetry systems or software deployment processes
• Certified Operation Manager (運行管理者) qualification in Japan (Freight or Passenger)
