Fleet Operations Specialist

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of operators during assigned shifts, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and clarity of responsibilities.
• Oversee vehicle fleet maintenance, inspections, and general health to ensure maximum uptime for testing.
• Manage end-to-end logistics, including route planning, long-distance testing, and equipment transport.
• Develop daily run plans aligned to data collection quotas and report disengagement root causes to engineering.
• Act as the primary escalation point for vehicle faults, on-road incidents, or workflow blockers.
• Manage shift-level people responsibilities, including attendance, policy adherence, and performance coaching.
• Ensure all operations comply with Japanese road laws and internal safety standards.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in operations, field team leadership, or vehicle/fleet coordination.
• Proven track record in managing vehicle maintenance, driver shifts, or complex logistical scheduling.
• Experience guiding frontline teams in a dynamic, tech-driven environment.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
• A safety-first mindset with experience working in high-pressure environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with autonomous vehicles, automotive testing, or robotics systems.
• Certified Operation Manager (運行管理者) qualification in Japan (Freight or Passenger).
• Familiarity with Fleet Management Systems (e.g., Fleetio), Jira, Slack, and Google Workspace.
• Knowledge of basic telemetry systems or software deployment processes.
