About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicle systems including suspension, steering, and exhaust to ensure operational safety and high physical appearance standards
- Perform repairs on vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and associated components
- Address immediate fleet concerns and maintain accurate maintenance records by reviewing driver defect reports and PMs
- Track daily vehicle reports, labor hours, and repair records to ensure all files are current
- Conduct field visits for emergencies or breakdowns to arrange for repairs or towing
- Support the IT team in managing on-board technology such as Wi-Fi, telematics, and vehicle tablets
- Run diagnostic tests on diesel and gas engines and interpret results to provide solutions
- Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge performance and prepare detailed work plans
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- 3+ years of vehicle maintenance experience (transit buses or motor coaches preferred)
- Experience using diagnostic tools such as Cummins Insite, QuickServe, AllData, WABCO, or Bendix
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is preferred
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Current DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug test
- Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Electric vehicle (EV) experience
- ASE Certifications (Medium/Heavy Truck or School/Transit Bus)
- Powertrain Certification
- EPA 609 HVAC Certification
- CDL (Class A or B) with Passenger endorsement
