Fleet Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance and inspections on landfill machines, vehicles, and heavy equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to determine necessary repairs
• Utilize welding, machining, and various hand/power tools to fabricate and repair parts
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and review operator inspection reports
• Respond to service calls and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain a clean and organized garage environment
• Test the performance of machinery and equipment periodically

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work in various weather conditions
• Proficiency with mechanical tools and ability to read schematics/drawings

Preferred Qualifications

• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification
• Experience with computerized diagnostic systems (e.g., Cat ET, Cummins, Detroit DDL)
• Experience with welding (Stick, TIG, or wire feed)
