Fleet Deckhand

Responsibilities

• Assist deck crew in tow building including laying wires, tightening ratchets, sweeping, and shoveling barges
• Perform daily vessel housekeeping such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning crew living quarters
• Carry rigging including ratchets, wires, straps, pumps, hoses, and lines
• Check barges for water and leaks, including entering confined spaces
• Maintain vessel appearance through washing, chipping, and painting
• Assist the Engineer as requested
• Participate in safety drills, audits, and practice safe crew and vessel operations

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Valid TWIC card
• Ability to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
• Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
• Ability to read and write English for USCG regulatory requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
• Must live within 1 hour of Sauget or East Carondelet, IL due to the 7/7 schedule
