Fleet Deckhand

Responsibilities

• Assist deck crew in tow building including laying wires, tightening ratchets, sweeping, and shoveling barges
• Perform daily vessel housekeeping such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning crew living quarters
• Assist with locking and carrying rigging, pumps, hoses, and lines
• Work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions
• Check barges for water and leaks, including entering confined spaces
• Maintain vessel appearance through washing, chipping, and painting
• Assist the Engineer as requested
• Practice safe crew, vessel, and tow operation using company safety systems
• Participate in safety drills and audits

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Valid TWIC card
• Ability to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
• Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
• Ability to read and write English for USCG regulatory requirements
• Ability to live within 1 hour of East Carondelet or Sauget, IL due to the 7/7 schedule
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical
