About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist deck crew in tow building including laying wires, tightening ratchets, sweeping, and shoveling barges
- Perform daily vessel housekeeping such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning crew living quarters
- Carry rigging, pumps, hoses, and lines
- Check barges for water and leaks, including entering confined spaces
- Maintain vessel appearance through washing, chipping, and painting
- Assist the Engineer as requested
- Participate in safety drills, audits, and practice safe crew and vessel operations
Requirements
- Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to obtain a valid TWIC card
- Ability to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
- Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
- Ability to read and write English for USCG regulatory requirements
- Ability to work away from home for extended periods (14, 21, or 28 day hitches)
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical
