About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist deck crew in tow building including laying wires, tightening ratchets, sweeping, and shoveling barges
  • Perform daily vessel housekeeping such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning crew living quarters
  • Carry rigging, pumps, hoses, and lines
  • Check barges for water and leaks, including entering confined spaces
  • Maintain vessel appearance through washing, chipping, and painting
  • Assist the Engineer as requested
  • Participate in safety drills, audits, and practice safe crew and vessel operations

Requirements

  • Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to obtain a valid TWIC card
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders
  • Ability to read and write English for USCG regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work away from home for extended periods (14, 21, or 28 day hitches)
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical
