About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform general housekeeping and vessel upkeep, including washing, chipping, painting, and cleaning
  • Execute tow work, such as building rigging and building tows for Lineboats
  • Conduct fleet work, including preparing barges for delivery to local customers
  • Assist barge cleaners, mechanics, and welders as required
  • Support the Captain with vessel reports in compliance with environmental, safety, and USCG regulations
  • Report all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card (or ability to obtain one within 5 days of hire)
  • Ability to follow direction and execute tasks under supervision
  • Sufficient reading and writing skills to complete required documentation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, standing for long periods, kneeling, bending, and climbing
  • Ability to work in all climates, at various heights, in confined spaces, and near large bodies of water
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and human performance exam

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in inland waterway decking
