About the role

Responsibilities

  • Steering the boat up and down the river
  • Keeping watch for safety of crew, equipment, and environment
  • Positioning barges together into tows
  • Moving and building tows
  • Ensuring safe navigation and operation of vessel
  • Managing the crew and the vessel efficiently
  • Conducting safety meetings and drills
  • Making locks and bridges

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience
  • MMC, TWIC, or state ID required
  • Advanced education and training (SCI, CEMS, etc.)
  • Ability to navigate the specific river of operation
  • Working knowledge of handling large tows
  • Ability to read and write English for USCG regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work in extreme weather
  • Must live within a one-hour radius of the fleet location
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate skills with MS Outlook
  • Proven leadership abilities
