Fitter/Welder

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding on heavy gauge steel using GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes
• Lay out and cut complex subassemblies and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
• Fit and complete final welds and/or multi-pass welds in compliance with AWS D1.1 welding codes
• Position pieces into jigs, holding fixtures, and guides using measuring instruments and hand tools
• Conduct routine inspection of welds and participate in quality assurance protocols
• Work collaboratively with production teams to meet project timelines
• Assist in training other employees and cross-train on new tasks
• Comply with all PPE requirements and safety protocols

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy manufacturing or structural fabrication
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to read blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders
• Ability to accurately measure within specified tolerances
• Basic equipment maintenance skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Flux or Metal Core welding experience
• Previous experience with trailer manufacturing
• Trade school or college welding education
• CWI credentials
• AWS Certified Welder (CW) – D1.1 (Structural Steel) focus
