Fitter/Welder Foreman

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of craftsmen engaged in welding and fitting sheet metal structures
• Collaborate with the Production Manager to allocate manpower, equipment, and materials
• Supervise and monitor skilled labor and work crews to ensure quality and safety compliance
• Maintain welding and fitter equipment and ensure safe material handling
• Coordinate team activities with other foremen and project teams
• Act as the primary point of contact for welding and fitting aspects of projects
• Perform welding and fitting tasks as necessary to maintain project schedules

Requirements

• 6+ years in a manufacturing or fabrication shop environment
• 3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role
• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings
• Knowledge of welding and fitting techniques and mechanical tools
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Intermediate math skills for calculating proportions and areas
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Business Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
• Experience in industrial markets or shipbuilding
