Fitter/Pipe Fabricator

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together in various body positions
• Bolt, clamp, and weld metal components including piping systems, plate, pipe, tube, or structural shapes
• Comply with all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations
• Work with cutting and bay pulling departments to ensure materials are staged for fabrication
• Clean or degrease weld joints and workplaces using wire brushes or portable grinders
• Remove excess weld, defective material, slag, and spatter using grinders, gas torches, or scrapers
• Preheat work pieces using hand torches and cut metal plates or structural shapes
• Examine welds for bead size and other required specifications
• Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment

Requirements

• Experience in the field or a related area
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
