Fitter General

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints and specifications to select appropriate materials, methods, and machine settings
• Install fabricated metal components and assemble parts to create machines and equipment
• Inspect assembled parts for precision, fit, and clearance using precision measuring tools
• Adjust guides, stops, and controls on machining equipment and configure cutting tools
• Shape metal stock and castings to precise tolerances using pressing, cutting, grinding, and drilling tools
• Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
• Diagnose faults, perform routine maintenance, and overhaul mechanical components and fluid power systems
• Assemble and install machines and equipment on-site as required

Requirements

• Relevant trade qualifications as a First Class Machinist or Mechanical Fitter
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a fitting or similar mechanical role
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and blueprints
• Extensive experience with precision measuring tools
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
• Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery faults
