Requirements
College diploma or relevant post-secondary training, 2 years related experience, Knowledge of fish culture techniques, First aid/CPR and WHMIS certification, Experience with hatchery equipment
About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform technical support and activities related to day-to-day hatchery operations, including fish culture, spawning, and egg incubation
- Operate and maintain hatchery equipment, physical structures, and hatchery grounds
- Monitor water quality, fish health, and implement nutrition and medication schedules
- Ensure safe transport, distribution, and release of hatchery-reared fish into public lakes and streams
- Provide technical support for conservation education, research initiatives, and public participation events
- Conduct fisheries field work, including creel surveys and wild fish collection using various sampling gear
Requirements
- College diploma or relevant post-secondary training with 2 years of related experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience
- Knowledge of fish culture techniques and fish health protocols
- Experience with hatchery equipment and various fish species
- First aid/CPR and WHMIS certification
- Ability to work outdoors in and around water environments under all weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrofishing, swift-water rescue, or confined space entry
- Safe watercraft operation and firearms safety training
- Air brakes endorsement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
