About the role
Responsibilities
- Support peer-to-peer engagement with assigned first-year students through welcoming conversations, check-ins, and outreach.
- Assist with the planning, setup, facilitation, and clean-up of FYE social experiences, academic study tables, and community-building events.
- Maintain accurate records related to student contact, event attendance, and engagement using approved university systems.
- Provide logistical and administrative support, including preparing materials, organizing supplies, and managing communication campaigns.
- Connect students to appropriate campus resources and notify professional staff when a student requires additional support or a warm handoff.
- Model positive student leadership, inclusive behavior, and professional communication when interacting with students, families, and faculty.
Requirements
- Current Texas Wesleyan University undergraduate student in good academic and conduct standing.
- Successful completion of at least one academic year at TXWES as a full-time, degree-seeking student.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and faculty.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
- Availability to attend required training, team meetings, and occasional evening or weekend programming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in peer mentoring, student leadership, or orientation.
- Experience in tutoring, campus employment, student organizations, or community engagement.
- Familiarity with campus resources and student services at Texas Wesleyan University.
