First Year Experience Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement comprehensive First-Year Experience (FYE) programming, including workshops, events, and co-curricular activities.
• Develop and manage transfer initiatives and programs specifically designed to support first-generation college students.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders to foster a sense of community and belonging.
• Manage early alert and outreach efforts for students flagged for concerns regarding social isolation or campus disengagement.
• Serve as a liaison to FYS 100 faculty to align programming with course content and student support resources.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of new student orientation and welcome week activities.
• Select, train, and supervise FYE Peer Mentors, including teaching related training courses.
• Assess program effectiveness by tracking participation data and learning outcomes.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field.
• Experience working with undergraduate students in a teaching, advising, or student support capacity.
• Demonstrated knowledge of student retention best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing or facilitating transition programs that emphasize student belonging.
• Experience supporting transfer student initiatives.
• Experience using retention management or early alert systems (e.g., Starfish).
• Experience supervising student employees.
