About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource for students to identify and eliminate barriers faced by first-generation and income-eligible (FGIE) populations
  • Co-supervise undergraduate student employees (CSS Peer Mentors) and oversee their production of newsletters, social media content, and event management
  • Design, lead, and plan annual celebratory and educational programs specifically for the FGIE community
  • Assist in the daily operations of the Center for Student Success (CSS) department
  • Co-facilitate presentations and training sessions related to CSS and FGIE services
  • Collaborate with various Student Affairs departments and support FGIE student organizations
  • Represent the CSS through campus tabling, fairs, and active participation in the campus community

Requirements

  • B.A. degree
  • Experience working with students in a higher education context, preferably within a liberal arts setting
  • Demonstrated background in addressing the needs of FGIE or other underserved student populations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including periodic evenings and weekends
  • Ability to articulate a deep understanding and appreciation of diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Oberlin College and Conservatory
