Firmware Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of firmware engineers providing technical guidance and career development
• Set team priorities and roadmaps in partnership with product and hardware leadership
• Recruit and interview firmware engineering candidates
• Design and implement robust firmware on MCU platforms including wireless connectivity, OTA updates, and sensor integration
• Develop and optimize communication stacks for wireless protocols
• Write efficient low-level code for hardware peripherals using GPIO, I2C, SPI, and UART
• Work with cross-functional teams to debug, test, and troubleshoot firmware
• Review code from team members to maintain best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years in embedded systems development
• Prior experience leading, managing, or mentoring engineers
• Deep understanding of computer networking and firmware for data-intensive applications
• Strong expertise in C programming for embedded systems and RTOS principles
• Proficiency in hardware-software interfacing (GPIO, I2C, SPI, JTAG)
• Proficiency with troubleshooting tools like debuggers, Wireshark, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
• Familiarity with version control, CI, and build systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FreeRTOS
• Experience with Jetson Linux platform and ESP32 microcontrollers
• Working knowledge of MQTT and AWS (AWS CDK is a plus)
• Experience with cellular connectivity
