Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities

• Write firmware in C for STM32 microcontrollers, specifically for motor controllers
• Manage end-to-end development including requirements, design, architecture, implementation, and verification
• Bring up new hardware and debug issues alongside motor-control and electrical engineers
• Support the mechanical team with new actuator design and verification
• Perform hardware-level debugging such as analyzing clock timing with an oscilloscope

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (Required for defense projects)
• 2-3 years of embedded C programming experience
• Experience with RTOS (ThreadX, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar)
• Experience with communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, Ethernet, or BiSS-C)
• Proficiency with embedded peripherals (ADC, Timers, Flash, EEPROM, fRAM)
• Hardware debugging experience using oscilloscopes and/or logic analyzers
• Software debugging experience using JTAG/SWD (J-Link, Lauterbach, Ozone)
• Ability to read and understand circuit schematics
• Ability to work on-site in Torrance, CA (at least 4 out of 5 days)

Preferred Qualifications

• DO-178C / DAL certification experience
• Motor control background (FOC, Space Vector Modulation, current loops)
• Sensor experience (Hall sensors, incremental encoders, absolute encoders)
