Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities

• Rapidly bring up new hardware and set execution pace for the team
• Lead firmware architecture for embedded systems spanning boot, RTOS, peripheral control, and power management
• Define engineering standards for reliability, fault tolerance, and observability
• Design and review safety-critical mechanisms including fault detection and recovery paths
• Build quick prototypes and harden them into production-quality systems
• Partner with hardware, software, and AI research engineers
• Establish testing strategies across unit, hardware-in-the-loop, and stress testing
• Drive root-cause analysis for hardware and firmware interactions
• Mentor firmware engineers and shape a culture of technical rigor

Requirements

• Extensive experience developing firmware in an iterative environment
• Proven track record leading architecture for complex embedded products
• Deep fluency in low-level languages, specifically Rust
• Strong understanding of interrupts, scheduling, memory layout, buses, and DMA
• Experience with defensive design and fault containment
• Ability to communicate clearly across technical disciplines
• Proficiency using AI-assisted coding systems to accelerate development

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rust in embedded environments
• Experience with Embassy or other async embedded Rust frameworks
• Familiarity with mixed-language architectures (Rust/C/C++)
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M or Cortex-R platforms
• Experience with sensor-rich, latency-sensitive electromechanical products
