Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop platform firmware across the stack including boot ROM, bootloaders, embedded controllers, BMC, and device firmware
• Implement secure boot and hardware root of trust, including code signing, chain-of-trust, and authenticated updates
• Manage power sequencing, PMIC/voltage-rail control, DVFS, and thermal protection
• Develop monitoring and telemetry systems for sensors, health/RAS, and error logging
• Lead debug and bring-up using JTAG/scan and other debug infrastructure
• Partner with silicon, hardware, and software teams on firmware interfaces and HW/SW co-design

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing platform or system firmware
• Strong proficiency in C and assembly for embedded/firmware environments
• Experience with bare-metal or RTOS on ARM or similar architectures
• Hands-on experience with secure boot, hardware root of trust, and code signing
• Experience with power-management firmware and PMIC/voltage regulators
• Proficiency with platform monitoring, sensor telemetry, and JTAG/debug tools
• Ability to work at the HW/SW boundary, including reading datasheets and using lab equipment like scopes and logic analyzers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rust for firmware development
• Knowledge of OpenBMC, UEFI, or coreboot
• Experience with accelerator, GPU, or server firmware
• Understanding of applied cryptography, key management, and TEE (TrustZone)
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-193, FIPS 140-3, and SBOM/supply-chain security
