Firefighter I

Responsibilities

• Rapidly respond to fire, medical, chemical, and other emergencies within the facility
• Operate fire suppression equipment including hoses, pumps, and chemical extinguishing agents
• Act as a first responder for chemical spills and hazardous materials incidents
• Conduct regular inspections of fire suppression systems, extinguishers, and emergency exits
• Monitor "hot work" and confined space entry permits
• Document emergency responses, drills, inspections, and training activities
• Conduct daily fire safety training for employees

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a firefighter
• Illinois State Fire Marshal Basic Firefighter certification
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid state-issued driver’s license
• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Correctable vision and ability to distinguish colors
• Physical capability to perform assigned duties
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Department of Public Health EMT-Basic license
