Firefighter

Responsibilities

• Provide Fire, EMS, Crash Fire (ARFF), and hazardous materials emergency response
• Respond to emergencies, disasters, and hazardous material spills according to the Disaster Preparedness Plan
• Maintain and ensure all emergency response equipment is operational and in a state of readiness
• Implement fire prevention programs and the USAP Fire Prevention Plan
• Drive and operate a range of firefighting vehicles and equipment
• Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements
• Participate in ongoing training to remain current on EH&S, OSHA, Fire, EMS, and Hazmat standards

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD, or State Certified Firefighter II
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD, or State Certified Airport Fire Fighter
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD, or State Certified Hazardous Materials First Responder (Operations Level)
• CPR Certification
• NIMS ICS 100 and 200 certifications
• Two years of previous full-time, volunteer, or paid on-call firefighting experience
• Ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods and pass required medical, dental, and background checks
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, climbing, and crawling in extreme weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree in Fire Science
• EMT-B certification or higher
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD or State Certified Driver Operator Pumper / Mobile Water Supply
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD or State Certified Driver Operator ARFF
