About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance for fired equipment design, operation, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements across the global fleet
- Support fired equipment engineering needs for ExxonMobil projects and manufacturing operations
- Drive site asset improvements in safety, reliability, environmental performance, and equipment capability
- Conduct detailed technical evaluations to address issues with equipment design and performance
- Provide quality assurance of fired equipment design on projects and perform Root Cause Failure Analyses
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, and vendor qualification processes
- Coordinate communication between technical support contractors and global operations
- Interface with Global ExxonMobil Experts to advance combustion technology
Requirements
- Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with fired equipment in the oil & gas, refining, or petrochemical industries
- Knowledge of API and NFPA standards and industry design codes
- Experience with fired heater thermal design software
- Strong analytical, heat transfer, and troubleshooting engineering skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Ability to work in shifts to support multiple regions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with field troubleshooting and supporting equipment in an operating environment
- Direct experience working onsite in oil & gas facilities, field engineering, or construction
- Experience coordinating and leading design reviews, HAZOPs, and vendor bid evaluations
- Knowledge of burner management systems, control systems, and materials selection for refractories
