Fire Sprinkler Designer

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the design and layout of automatic fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
• Generate fire suppression specifications for water-based fire protection systems
• Perform or review hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, and system sizing for fire pumps and controllers
• Review and prepare sprinkler and fire pump shop drawing submittal packages
• Act as the owner’s representative during design, construction, and commissioning phases
• Conduct field surveys, inspections, and site walks to verify installation quality and code compliance
• Coordinate with AHJs to support permitting and project approvals
• Provide technical consulting to clients, project managers, and contractors
• Mentor junior designers, engineers, and consultants

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in fire protection system design or consulting
• Expertise in automatic sprinkler systems and fire pump design
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or similar software

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 25
• NICET Water-Based Systems Layout Certification (Level II or higher preferred)
• Strong technical report writing and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
