Fire Sprinkler Designer

Responsibilities

• Produce fire protection design drawings and calculations for permitting and construction
• Design fire protection systems utilizing architect generated dimensions and structural backgrounds
• Perform hydraulic calculations as required
• Complete stock listing for fabrication shop
• Review design drawings in detail before fabrication
• Coordinate with the Design Manager on drawing schedules
• Review design documents prior to submittal for permit and architect/engineer review
• Attend project meetings and jobsite visits as needed
• Perform site surveys as required
• Communicate with field foremen regarding coordination changes
• Review submittals for size, quantity, and design compatibility

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of fire protection design experience
• Familiarity with NFPA 13, 14, 20, 22 and FM Global Standards
• Technical understanding of Wet, Dry, Preaction, and Deluge type systems
• AutoCAD experience
• Ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications
• Competent math ability

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET Level 1 or 2 in Water-Based System Layout
• Experience with AutoSprink
• BIM (Navisworks) experience
