Fire Sprinkler Designer 1

Responsibilities

• Design fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam fire sprinkler systems
• Prepare shop drawings, field installation drawings, and hydraulic calculations
• Compile and prepare plan submittals and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, and clients
• Coordinate fire sprinkler design with building structures and other MEP subcontractors
• Prepare project material stocklists for procurement and oversee quantity tracking
• Conduct NFPA and Building Code research to ensure compliance
• Visit construction jobsites to review field conditions and troubleshoot installation conflicts
• Prepare “as-built” drawings for in-house archives and client files

Requirements

• Ability to read construction, engineering, architectural, and structural plans
• Ability to travel to construction jobsites 25%-50% as required by the business
• Strong work ethic with a focus on safety and attention to detail
• High level of self-discipline and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Ability to meet strict deadlines in a schedule-driven industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management (Associates degree also considered)
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Excel
• 1-2 years of fire sprinkler design experience or 2+ years of direct construction-related experience
