About the role
Responsibilities
- Design fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam fire sprinkler systems
- Prepare shop drawings, field installation drawings, and hydraulic calculations
- Compile and prepare plan submittals and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, and clients
- Coordinate fire sprinkler design with building structures and other MEP subcontractors
- Prepare project material stocklists for procurement and oversee quantity tracking
- Conduct NFPA and Building Code research to ensure compliance
- Visit construction jobsites to review field conditions and troubleshoot installation conflicts
- Prepare “as-built” drawings for in-house archives and client files

- Ability to read construction, engineering, architectural, and structural plans
- Ability to travel to construction jobsites 25%-50% as required by the business
- Strong work ethic with a focus on safety and attention to detail
- High level of self-discipline and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a schedule-driven industry
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management (Associates degree also considered)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Excel
- 1-2 years of fire sprinkler design experience or 2+ years of direct construction-related experience
