Fire Protection Specialist

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm suppression systems in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and complete repairs on dry/wet pipe alarm valves, pre-action, and deluge systems
• Visually inspect fire alarm equipment and replace defective components
• Check pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers and recharge or replace containers as needed
• Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems
• Study building plans and working drawings to determine required work aids and installation sequences
• Use hand and power tools to cut, thread, and bend pipe to required specifications
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures including water heaters, sinks, and water softeners

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in the installation and repair of wet pipe alarm valves, dry pipe alarm valves, pre-action, and deluge systems
• NICET Level II or higher Fire Protection Certification
• Familiarity with aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) systems
• Knowledge of NFPA-13 manuals for fire protection systems
• Ability to operate alarm control panels, fire pumps, and controllers
• Valid state driver's license
• US Citizenship (required for facility credentials and security clearance)
• Ability to work at various heights and lift up to 50 lbs
