About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver fire safety and emergency preparedness education programs for staff
- Plan, conduct and evaluate fire drills, inspections and quality improvement initiatives
- Investigate fire alarms, fire incidents and life safety concerns
- Respond as Incident Manager to fire alarms until relieved by Toronto Fire Services
- Coordinate testing, inspection and maintenance of fire and life safety systems
- Participate in construction reviews and operational planning to ensure compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation, inspection records and regulatory reports
- Build collaborative relationships with Toronto Fire Services and internal stakeholders
Requirements
- Minimum three-year Community College diploma in Fire Protection Technology or equivalent
- NFPA Certified Fire Inspector Level I (minimum)
- 6-8 years of experience in fire prevention, fire safety or life safety
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Fire Code and Ontario Building Code
- Ability to read blueprints and lead investigations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
