About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide fire safety support for estate management activities and small works across fissile and non-fissile sites
- Review proposed works to ensure fire safety considerations are integrated
- Advise on fire safety implications of estate changes, refurbishments, and maintenance
- Undertake detailed reviews of fire safety assets including fire dampers, sprinkler systems, detection and alarm systems, and compartmentation
- Assess condition, performance, and compliance of fire safety systems
- Support the development of site-wide fire safety standards and specifications
- Engage with estate teams and technical specialists to produce risk reports and recommended actions
Requirements
- Level 4 Diploma (or equivalent) in a fire-related discipline
- Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., IFE or IFSM)
- Degree in Fire Engineering or a related subject
- In-depth knowledge of Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Approved Document B, and BS 9999
- Experience applying fire safety best practices in operational environments
- Familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards, and Codes of Practice
- Familiarity with Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and regulatory frameworks
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
