About the role
Responsibilities
- Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process
- Operate high-temperature furnaces (900 - 1100°C) to fuse mixtures and extract precious metals
- Perform cupellation and prilling to collect and prepare metal samples for analysis
- Inspect samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills to ensure quality and accuracy
- Record and report any anomalies to maintain the integrity of the assay process
- Follow strict safety procedures and proactively identify potential workplace hazards
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a high-paced environment
- Comfortable working with high temperatures and handling chemicals safely
- Clear written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to perform procedures promptly
- A team player with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Must be available for a weekly rotating roster of morning, afternoon, and night shifts (Monday to Friday)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in fire assay or a laboratory setting
