About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform Fire Assay techniques including fluxing, fusing, and cupelling samples
- Carry out routine equipment maintenance under supervisor direction
- Complete and maintain accurate work order documentation, fusion sheets, and logs
- Follow Quality system protocols and report discrepancies
- Maintain a clean work environment and manage proper disposal of lab waste
- Organize and label waste disposal
- Support other Geochemistry laboratory sections and ad hoc projects as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory work experience preferred
- Ability to read and follow work instructions accurately and safely
- Proficiency in computer software including Word, Excel, CCLAS, and Oracle
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Ability to work in high temperature environments and with ovens
- Good hand-eye coordination for handling samples and equipment
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (days and overnights)
- Must have a personal vehicle for commuting to the Cochrane site
