About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production and quality targets while ensuring optimal staff levels
  • Schedule department workflow to meet client deadlines and monitor throughput
  • Train, motivate, and assess performance of staff
  • Manage inventory of consumables and supplies
  • Solve day-to-day production and process problems
  • Monitor lab QC standards and ensure data quality
  • Perform method validation and data evaluation
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Supervise staff in laboratory analysis according to established methods
  • Manage equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Organize waste disposal

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a Science related program (Chemistry, Geochemistry, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in geochemical analysis related to Fire Assay
  • 1–3 years of previous supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising small technical teams in a minerals laboratory
