Fire Assay Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Maintain production and quality objectives and ensure optimal staffing levels
• Plan workflow to meet client deadlines and monitor throughput performance
• Train, motivate, and evaluate staff performance and training needs
• Manage inventory of consumables and supplies
• Resolve daily production and process issues within the department
• Monitor and maintain laboratory quality control standards and data integrity
• Perform method validation and approve data
• Partner with managers to resolve client issues and ensure satisfaction
• Lead accident/incident investigations including root cause analysis
• Supervise laboratory personnel performing analyses according to established methods and QC standards
• Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance scheduling
• Organize waste disposal

Requirements

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a science-related program (chemistry, geochemistry, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge in geochemical analysis related to fire assay
• 1–3 years of previous supervisory experience
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising small technical teams, ideally in a mineral-related laboratory
