Fire Assay Assistant

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, including fusion and cupellation
• Manage crucible setup and prepare samples for fusion processes
• Perform fusion and cupellation using specialized furnace tools
• Adhere strictly to all safe work procedures and standard operating procedures
• Maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment
• Ensure analytical quality by following established methods and schedules
• Comply with all company health and safety policies and regulations

Requirements

• High School Education completion
• Familiarity with fire assay methods and digestion volumes
• Strong analytical, mechanical, and organizational skills
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for a full shift
• Ability to work in hot and dusty environments
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 operation, including day, afternoon, graveyard, and weekend shifts
• Ability to comply with safety requirements, including being clean-shaven for respirator use and undergoing regular lead blood tests

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Science
• Previous laboratory experience in a production-oriented environment
