Fire Alarm Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, troubleshoot, program, and repair fire alarm and life safety systems in compliance with NFPA 72 and local codes
• Perform scheduled testing including annual, semi‑annual, quarterly, and acceptance testing
• Program, modify, and verify fire alarm control panels and system devices
• Identify system issues, document deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions
• Complete accurate and timely inspection, testing, and service reports
• Coordinate with customers, general contractors, and AHJs during inspections
• Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and testing equipment

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of fire alarm service experience
• Experience programming fire alarm control panels
• Familiarity with Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire‑Lite, Edwards, Siemens, or Simplex systems
• Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and local fire codes
• Ability to read blueprints and riser diagrams
• Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical and low‑voltage systems
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or II
• Experience with smoke detectors, heat detectors, and monitoring interfaces
• Knowledge of IP and cellular communicators
• Understanding of fire sprinkler supervisory and monitoring devices
