Fire Alarm Designer

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm and detection systems based on NFPA, Building, and Fire Codes
• Prepare shop drawings, field installation drawings, and battery calculations
• Compile plan submittals and material submittals for architects, engineers, and clients
• Coordinate design with building structures and other MEP subcontractors
• Prepare project material stocklists for procurement and oversee quantity tracking
• Visit construction jobsites to review field conditions and troubleshoot installation conflicts
• Prepare "as-built" drawings for in-house archives and client files
• Conduct research regarding NFPA, Building, and Fire Codes

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field (Associates degree considered)
• 1-2 years of fire alarm design experience OR 2+ years of direct construction-related experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to read construction, engineering, architectural, and structural plans
• Ability to travel to construction jobsites 25-50% as required by the business

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience and proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience working within the construction or life safety industry
