About the role

Responsibilities

  • Use SQL and analytical tools to conduct in-depth analysis of customers, transactions, alerts, and risk ratings
  • Design, implement, and maintain FCC models, including transaction monitoring and sanctions screening
  • Develop bespoke transaction monitoring rules and sanctions screening logic to address specific AML risks
  • Partner with Compliance, Product, and Data leaders to translate regulatory requirements into analytical frameworks
  • Evaluate and tune existing detection models to reduce false positives while maintaining regulatory rigor
  • Develop data-driven methods to identify new typologies, emerging risks, and evolving financial crime trends
  • Maintain detailed documentation on model configurations, including scenarios, thresholds, and tuning
  • Collaborate with Model Risk Management to support validation and performance monitoring

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics)
  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, with at least 5 years specifically in FCC or AML/Sanctions analytics
  • Deep understanding of AML and Sanctions fundamentals, principles, and regulations
  • Top-notch SQL skills
  • Experience with Python or similar programming languages
  • Familiarity with modern ML tooling such as scikit-learn or XGBoost
  • Experience developing, tuning, and maintaining machine learning or rule-based detection models

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience identifying ways to improve both data-related and operational efficiencies
  • Curiosity regarding the application of AI/ML in financial crime detection
  • Ability to communicate complex model risk and analytics findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
