About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent validations of Financial Crime and Fraud models using proportionate modelling techniques.
  • Build relationships with first-line modelling and risk teams to embed model risk frameworks and validation practices.
  • Write clear, impactful model validation reports and present findings to relevant committees.
  • Review ongoing model performance monitoring to ensure models operate within established risk thresholds.
  • Oversee the review and validation of model changes and provide recommendations to ensure models remain fit for purpose.
  • Collaborate with first-line teams to strengthen policies, standards, and procedures through advisory support.
  • Monitor and measure overall FinCrime/Fraud model risk, driving action plans to mitigate residual risk.
  • Support the Model Risk Oversight Committee and help expand validation capabilities through research into new techniques like machine learning.

Requirements

  • Experience developing or validating Financial Crime, Fraud, Credit, or other regulatory risk models.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical risk management techniques.
  • Experience managing modelling projects through their full lifecycle.
  • Strong technical proficiency in SQL or Python.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning models, such as gradient boosted trees.
  • Ability to provide effective challenge while building respectful, professional relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of customer risk assessment controls and transaction monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Financial Crime and Fraud typologies.
  • Experience working within a transaction-driven business or similar industry.
