Financial Assistant

Responsibilities

• Apply generally accepted accounting principles to all financial tasks
• Process accounts payable in accordance with University guidelines
• Monitor, record, reconcile, and report on funding accounts for grants, contracts, and trust accounts
• Monitor department budgets to ensure expenditures remain within allocated limits
• Verify that all necessary prior approvals are obtained before processing transactions
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of University and sponsor policies and trends
• Liaise with clients and vendors to resolve minor complaints and address financial issues

Requirements

• Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Commerce, Accounting, Business Management, or Finance
• Minimum of three years of recent financial and accounting experience, preferably in the educational or public sector
• Proven experience administering research grants, budgets, and various accounts
• Experience with FIS or SAP-based financial systems
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel spreadsheets
• Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and analyzing financial reports
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities
