About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial management, analysis, and compliance monitoring for research and extension sponsored programs within CAENS.
  • Oversee fiscal operations including budgets, revenue accounts, and personnel-related financial matters.
  • Maintain an internal chart of accounts to monitor balances, spending, and project end dates.
  • Prepare financial status and projection reports for Deans, administrators, and Project Directors.
  • Review and audit financial transactions such as requisitions, purchase orders, and vouchers for accuracy and grant compliance.
  • Advise faculty and administrators on budget development, revisions, and proposal budget planning.
  • Maintain time and effort reporting systems and FTE allocations for grant-funded staff.
  • Ensure audit readiness by maintaining proper documentation, approvals, and procurement compliance.
  • Coordinate with Budget, Finance, Purchasing, and Sponsored Programs offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with federal grants and compliance (e.g., USDA, NSF) is required for higher-level roles.
  • Depending on the level (I, II, or III), experience ranges from 0 to 5+ years in finance, grants management, or higher education administration.
