About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) in the development, review, submission, and renewal of sponsored project proposals from NIH, private foundations, and industry.
  • Ensure all programmatic reporting requirements, including quarterly and annual progress and financial reports, are completed according to sponsor and institutional timelines.
  • Liaise with the Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) office to ensure timely award setup and compliance with pre-award requirements.
  • Assign and reconcile expense allocations for payroll and non-payroll items to appropriate funding sources.
  • Perform budget vs. actual reconciliations for sponsored and non-sponsored funding sources and faculty/staff salary allocations.
  • Maintain funding overviews and forecasts for faculty and conduct regular reviews to ensure fiscal sustainability.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts through data entry and analysis.
  • Complete routine internal reporting, such as effort reporting and PI attestations, and participate in regulatory audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with strict internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency or advanced proficiency in MS Excel and high skill in MS Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a non-profit environment with direct experience in grants and financial management.
  • Knowledge of government and foundational granting requirements and grants administration.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft financials.
