Financial Aid Officer

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise students and parents on financial aid programs, eligibility, application procedures, and financial planning.
• Review and interpret financial aid application data to determine student eligibility and award funds according to school philosophies.
• Assist in updating annual Costs of Attendance (COA), packaging procedures, and standard/custom reports.
• Maintain and update financial aid web pages and databases for external fellowships and grants.
• Conduct pre-collection efforts by assisting families in securing financing and proactively contacting students with debit balances.
• Provide high-quality student support through workshops, individual appointments, email, and telephone contact.
• Use professional judgment to analyze financial situations and make informed decisions regarding exceptions in accordance with Department of Education regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and competence in Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage conflicting priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with a passion for customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Student Aid regulations.
• Understanding of financial aid systems and knowledge of federal and private loan programs.
• Experience with SIS Informs and PowerFAIDS Financial Aid system.
