About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one financial counseling and eligibility information to students and parents
  • Review documents, perform need analysis, and award financial aid packages in compliance with federal and institutional policies
  • Verify FAFSA information and prepare individual student aid reports for packaging
  • Counsel students on borrowing issues, including aggregate limits, maximum time frames, and graduation exit requirements
  • Present financial aid information at prospective and new student events
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to manage outstanding account balances and payment plans
  • Assist with Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling processes and provide regulatory advice regarding Direct Lending
  • Respond to student correspondence regarding eligibility, verification, and general financial aid questions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in a higher education environment
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a professional office environment
  • Proficiency in Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to initiate projects independently
  • Ability to multitask with accuracy and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience handling highly detailed and confidential information
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours for campus events and orientations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a higher education environment
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish speaker preferred)
  • Experience using the Ellucian Colleague student information system
  • Experience in financial aid involving standard and nonstandard term delivery methods
  • Experience working with adult learners
