Financial Aid Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service as a designated point of contact for student financial aid needs.
• Advise students and families on eligibility, application procedures, costs, and available resources.
• Review financial aid applications to determine need based on federal and institutional methodologies.
• Evaluate eligibility by verifying application requirements and processing special circumstance requests.
• Package financial aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
• Perform data imports to the Student Information System (Banner) and manage student documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, software, and regulations.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Student Accounts, and the Registrar’s Office to support university goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing, with diverse populations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and workflows simultaneously.
• Demonstrated digital literacy and technical expertise.
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and high ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in financial aid administration.
• Experience in admissions or general higher education environments.
• Proven ability to recognize, analyze, and solve complex problems.
