About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a frontline customer service representative for students and families regarding financial aid inquiries.
  • Analyze and process financial aid applications to determine eligibility for federal, state, donor, and institutional funds.
  • Perform verifications to resolve discrepancies in awards and notify students of changes in eligibility.
  • Utilize information systems to input data, maintain databases, and generate reports.
  • Resolve financial aid issues via email, text, and phone calls.
  • Represent the Office of Financial Aid at university events, including open houses and FAFSA workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA policies and stay current on state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Previous experience in financial aid or higher education.
  • Working knowledge of financial aid systems such as Banner/Ellucian, NSLDS, PHEAA, and COD.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid programs and awarding regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends and travel occasionally to local high school events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency or fluency in Spanish.
  • Knowledge of ARGOS or Banner by Ellucian.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with diverse populations.
