About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled advising to students and parents via email, telephone, text, and video platforms.
- Process financial aid documents and verify eligibility for federal, state, and institutional programs.
- Assist with the administration of California state grants, Federal Pell Grants, and Federal Direct Loans.
- Support the administration of university merit scholarship programs.
- Manage the review of reports and analyze enrollment status to identify necessary aid adjustments.
- Train and mentor Financial Aid Counselor I positions.
- Collaborate with student accounts and other university offices to confirm financial aid data.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in funds management and reconciliation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (two years of full-time experience in a similar position may be considered equivalent to one year of post-high school coursework).
- At least one year of relevant financial aid work experience.
- Knowledge of Title IV regulations and policies.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.

- Ability to use professional judgment to independently calculate financial aid offers.
- Experience working with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks within concurrent deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills to minimize errors in high-volume environments.
