Field Waste Management Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist the LANL Waste Management Coordinator in waste characterization, profiling, and shipping manifests
• Manage waste loading, packaging, labeling, weighing, handling, and inventory control
• Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of waste throughout its lifecycle
• Prepare required waste management records, shipping documentation, and inventory logs
• Coordinate waste disposition activities with approved treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs)
• Inventory waste types, volumes, weights, and package identification numbers
• Develop and manage internal waste profiles to ensure regulatory compliance
• Update weekly reports and compile final reports

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 3+ years of waste handling experience
• Knowledge of waste regulations, minimization, packaging, labeling, and transporting
• 40-hour HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120) training
• Hazardous Waste (40 CFR 261 - 268) training
• DOT HazMat (49 CFR 107 - 178) training
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
